Dr. Christian Rojas, researcher at the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, AC3E, and academic at the Electronics Department of the Federico Santa María Technical University, received the “Distinguished Teacher” distinction for the fourth time. This recognition is awarded annually by the Federico Santa María Technical University to those who obtain the highest ratings in the teaching evaluation conducted by their own students, on this occasion, for the 2024 academic year.
With this, the university seeks to highlight the work of those teachers whose vocation and quality of teaching are recognized by students in different dimensions, by virtue of contributing to the training of future professionals.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the students, in my case from the Electronics Department, as it somehow validates the teaching work but motivated by research and technological development. I believe that, to do impactful research, it is also necessary to carry out excellent teaching,” highlighted researcher Dr. Christian Rojas.
It should be noted that this is the fourth time the academic has received this distinction, which reflects his commitment to education, especially in topics related to microelectronics, power converters, and renewable energies, among others, which are fundamental to face the great challenges of the future, such as climate change. “I have received this recognition four times: 2019, 2021, 2022, and recently in 2023. The teaching role is a task that imposes constant challenges on us so that the subjects are attractive to our students,” said Dr. Rojas.
One of the keys mentioned by the AC3E researcher is to plan the subject, measure the evaluations, and always open the microphone in class, in addition to providing flexibility for learning and motivating students to be protagonists and drivers of technological advances in the country and the world.
“Training the next engineers is a personal challenge, especially because electronics is an exact science that enables our modern life. I also take this opportunity to thank my family who has supported me in these years of teaching and my teachers, who in various ways showed me how to teach classes with their examples and experiences,” he concluded.
