AC3E celebrates eight years developing cutting-edge technology and contributing to national industry

Chile’s scientific and technological sectors are growing substantially. The incorporation of robotics, artificial intelligence, or renewable energies in industrial processes, or new health technologies that accelerate diagnoses and provide better quality care, are no longer a futuristic idea but already a fact.

In this scenario, the role of research centers is fundamental, creating a bridge between academia, industry, and society. These entities have the technical and professional capabilities to provide answers to these new concerns.

In light of this mission, the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E) was founded in 2014, celebrating its eighth anniversary in October, with a trajectory marked by remarkable contributions to national science and technology, the economy and the population.

This year stands out for constant growth in different areas, with scientific research production of excellence and publication of 101 ISI/WoS and 80 non-ISI scientific articles, the graduation of more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students, considerable progress in gender parity, scientific outreach with special emphasis on secondary schools and the general community attracting over 10,000 participants, and collaborating with 15 companies and organizations on industrial R&D projects, generating a significant contribution to society and the national economy.

With all this experience, the Center is projecting new goals that will guide its work through 2035, establishing the challenges and analyzing the needs the industry and society will articulate in the future.
