Two researchers join AC3E

Cristian García and Pablo Acuña joined the Electrical Systems research line in August. They will enhance this area with their ideas, trajectories, and scientific development. At the same time, their incorporation allows expanding the AC3E network, specifically with Universidad de Talca.

This research area addresses complex and interdisciplinary problems that include technical, economic, regulatory, environmental, and social aspects and results, which, aside from being published in prestigious scientific journals, are used by the Ministry of Energy of Chile, the National Energy Commission, the National Electricity Coordinator and companies in the electricity sector for the creation of public policies and regulations.

García received much of his professional training at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. His work focuses on applied scientific research in the control of electrical machines and power converters for electric traction applications.

Acuña has specialized in power electronics and applied control systems with a strong focus on predictive control and its applications to high-power systems.

For the Center’s principal investigators, the incorporation of the researchers represents a relevant contribution. “I have been collaborating with Pablo for years, both in publications and projects. With his incorporation into the Center, this collaboration becomes even more formal and will allow us to promote the joint guidance of students and the participation in new projects related to the control of converters and the incorporation of renewable energies into the energy matrix,” researcher Pablo Lezana said.

Researcher Margarita Norambuena said it is very important to count on the experience of professionals with outstanding careers. “We have been working with Cristian for more than five years on projects and publications, organizing conferences such as PRECEDE and special issues of IEEE journals. His incorporation into the Center will undoubtedly be a great contribution to enhance the development of the line.”
