On January 7th, the Regional Ministerial Secretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation of the Valparaíso and Coquimbo regions, Rodrigo González, visited the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, AC3E, accompanied by his Chief of Staff Carolina Quintero and students and teachers from the R2D2 team belonging to the Robotics Program of the Industrial High School of Valparaíso.
The school robotics group was crowned national champion in the final of the First Lego League 2024, an internationally renowned competition that promotes creativity, teamwork, and technological innovation among young people.
This important achievement motivated the Government authority to coordinate the possibility for the talented students to learn firsthand about the work of a national research center, and for this, he chose AC3E.
The delegation was received by Javier Robledo, from the Center’s Technology Transfer Unit, who gave a presentation of AC3E and then began a tour of its facilities and laboratories, so that they could learn how engineers and researchers work and some of their main projects, with a focus on robotics projects such as the “robot dog” Unitree Go2 and the famous humanoid robot Icub.
The director of AC3E, Dr. Héctor Ramírez, also joined the guided tour to share part of the Center’s work, highlighting the importance of opening the doors of the facilities to motivate more children to join the world of science and learn that in Chile, specifically in Valparaíso, there are places where technological innovations and solutions to the great challenges of the future are developed.
