This area of impact is focused on the efficient conversion, control, operation and management of the energy and power systems.
Our main purpose is to research and develop enabling technologies for a more sustainable future, such as the efficient and reliable large scale introduction of renewable energy sources to the grid electromobility for public and private transportation, resistant microgrids, efficient and reliable small scale energy collection, lighting systems, efficient and profitable energy storage for electromobility and energy systems, smart operation and planning of energy systems, and regulation of the electric market.
The interdisciplinary capabilities of the AC3E team range from the development of power hardware and microprocessors, control and monitoring software, to the analysis, planning and operation of power systems. This allows us to develop comprehensive solutions for energy systems and their applications in the industry. The Center has an outstanding trajectory and it is highly known internationally, it has published articles in different journals and conferences; it has also consolidated different research activities, cooperation with researchers and international networks; it has attracted foreign students; and it has entered in contracts with different companies, including some international companies like TMEIC Japan.
