Approximately 170 Students and Researchers Gathered at the AC3E 2024 Technical Conference

On Thursday, August 8th, a new version of the AC3E Technical Conference took place, an event that year after year brings together academics and students from the research center around scientific work.

“This year we had an excellent connection between the teams, which allows people working on different research topics to get to know each other, especially among groups of students who come from different universities. Therefore, it is a meeting space, it is a community space where the sense of belonging to the center is realized in a wonderful way,” mentioned the director of AC3E, Dr. Matías Zañartu.

The activity began with words from the director and continued with the talk titled “Enhancing Teamwork and Leadership with the Brain in Mind,” by the regional director of the NeuroLeadership Institute Latin America, Jaime Lama.

Later, the outstanding projects of the last year were presented in the different research groups: Robotics: “Prognostics and Decision Making: Lessons and future perspectives”; in Electrical Systems: “RTDS simulation platform: Advances, challenges and opportunities”; Energy and Power Systems: “Development of partial converter technology to enhance electromobility”; Control and Automation: “Heterogeneous architectures for smart cameras with local computing in the sensor”; and Biomedical Systems: “Electrical and sensory brain stimulation for neurorehabilitation: from mechanisms to clinical practice.”

“The technical conference has a fundamental importance in the life of the center, we are going to enhance it and we are going to continue maintaining it in the future, trying to make it continue to grow and we are going to continue giving it the importance and relevance that it has, both for the dissemination of results and for motivation,” highlighted the deputy director of AC3E, Dr. Héctor Ramírez.

In the afternoon, students and researchers shared in a session of 74 posters, where they were able to explain the developments and results of their research. The jury, composed of AC3E researchers, awarded the winners: in first place, Daniela Carrasco, in second place, Camilo Carvajal, and in third place, Cristóbal Ponce.

In this regard, Daniela Carrasco, a sixth-year student of Biomedical Civil Engineering from the University of Concepción and a student of researcher Dr. Pamela Guevara, said that “sharing visions or even differing in points of view generates a very interesting discussion that I did not think I could have here. Also, this is generating instances of connections for me. There are many things that add up and I did not think could happen in this instance that exceeded my expectations.”
