The researcher from the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, AC3E, and academic from the Department of Electronic Engineering at UTFSM, Dr. Melissa Diago, was recognized with the Young Scientists Award, a distinction that was made within the framework of the URSI General Assembly and the URSI Atlantic Radio Science Conferences (AT-RASC) in its 2024 version.
This award aims to recognize an international group of people who have made innovative contributions and discoveries in multidisciplinary research related to electromagnetic fields and waves, 1 and was granted to the researcher for her project “Two-Frequency mmWave Measurement-Based Modeling for Stadium Coverage.”
“This recognition means a lot! Since, considering the bases of this award, it means that my specific line of research is novel and provides a great contribution to URSI,” highlighted the researcher.
Her experience at the past international URSI conference was very rewarding, as it allowed her to meet and share her work with scientists who work in this same area of research. “Sharing with the antennas and propagation area is very enriching, understanding other lines and especially evaluating the state of my own research, if it is contributing and remains novel in the community is quite rewarding!” mentioned Dr. Melissa Diago.
With this experience, she hopes to “continue with my line of research and strengthen my work team, the telecommunications hotbed (made up of electronics students from USM) through my FONDECYT initiation project “Empirical modeling of wireless channels for smart farming scenarios at frequencies up to mmWave” to continue contributing from academia and science,” concluded the researcher.
