AC3E Researcher Promotes IEEE Membership Among Students and Academics 

On May 16th, a meeting to promote membership of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) was held at the University of Magallanes, aimed at students and academics from that university. The activity was led by AC3E researcher, Dr. Alejandro Rojas, who serves as president of the IEEE South Chile section.

“In my position, I must play a leadership role within the local section, overseeing various administrative and strategic functions. It is essential to ensure the success of the section and its contribution to the broader objectives of the IEEE,” mentioned Dr. Alejandro Rojas.

For the technological development of our country, it is essential to strengthen its human capital to face various future challenges in relation to climate change and the development of technologies for renewable energies; healthcare with innovations that allow preventive diagnosis or contribute to the work of doctors; in the area of Communication and Information, enhancing the development of infrastructure for telecommunications; Transportation and electromobility; Environmental monitoring and protection; Automation and manufacturing; Security and defense protocols, with cybersecurity and data protection issues.

“The importance of having more professionals in the field of electrical and electronic engineering in our country cannot be underestimated due to several critical reasons: innovation and technological development, infrastructure and energy, advances in healthcare, economic impact and educational and research opportunities,” said the researcher.

This type of membership is promoted to encourage professionals to become deeply involved in their field, contributing both to personal growth and to the advancement of the industry.
