María José Escobar, a researcher at the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E), became president of EIVA, an organization that aims to accelerate and strengthen the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem of Valparaíso Region.
She also leads USM’s outreach efforts. Dr. Escobar highlighted EIVA’s commitment to make entrepreneurship and innovation a lever of development for Valparaíso and its residents.
Dr. Escobar has a distinguished public sector career. She became the first regional Secretary of Science in 2019, and has made invaluable contributions to scientific development and innovation through her work at USM and as a researcher in the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis line.
One of her main goals is to connect with entrepreneurs and business leaders, facilitate cooperation and networking and promote innovation from Valparaíso across the country and the world.
