On July 22, Matías Zañartu, who is the director of and a researcher at the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E), participated in the Scientific Culture Fridays event, which, organized by Explora, takes place periodically at the Fonck Museum and is open to the public.
This cycle of presentations aims to bring the development of science closer to the public to help generating a reflection on the importance of technology in our lives. In his talk entitled “The voice speaks to us…,” Dr. Zañartu explained how through studying the voice a series of pathologies can be detected.
“It is very important to participate in these events where we can disseminate our scientific work and generate discussions about how we listen to ourselves, the perception of the voice and how it is key to understand and study neurodegenerative diseases. On the other hand, it is a great opportunity to share with the community what we are doing at the research centers, which technological advances are being developed and how this impacts people’s quality of life,” Dr. Zañartu said.
