On May 19, the final workshop for a consultancy service by the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E) for the Ministry of Energy and the German state-funded Agency for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), entitled “Support in the development of background for the definition of standards for electric vehicle chargers and installation of chargers in home applications” was held as part of the Moving Chile project, aimed at promoting electromobility in the country.
The team conducted a diagnosis of the charging network, an analysis of different charging standards and provided recommendations for home charger standards. This study is an important contribution to the advancement of electromobility, as it allows recognizing the appropriate charging infrastructure compatible with the electric vehicles offered in the market and allowed by national regulations.
“This study, with updated information both globally and nationally on charging stations, including home charging facilities, provides inputs to public and private actors to update and improve public policies related to charging stations in the country, both public and private, and increase the adoption of electric vehicles for private transport, which will generate a significant positive impact on decarbonization and energy independence from fossil fuels,” Alan Wilson said during the workshop.
