Seven students from all over the world were invited to participate in the MOSAIC 2022 Camp, focused on modular open source analog integrated circuit design, in Linz, Austria, organized by Silicon Austria Labs, a world-class research center and pioneer in electronics-based systems.
Representing Chile, Kevin Pizarro (studying for a Master’s degree in electronics) and telematics engineering student Aquiles Viza of the Advanced Center of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E) took part and learned more about the design and layout of programmed analog integrated circuits. They then shared this knowledge with other national organizations.
One challenge posed during the bootcamp related to automation of analog integrated circuit design, which also affects the industry, using both open-source and commercial tools. This allowed generating an understanding of the dimension of these challenges and work with international researchers on this topic.
After the camp, talks started on cooperation with representatives from the Philippines and the USA, which would allow the generation of an academic curriculum related to modern automation techniques for analog IC design.
